Mall day.

I’m about to go to the mall with my mom, which in and of itself is going to be tough. Over the years, I’ve eaten the same meal at the mall for lunch: vegetable fried rice and a Diet Coke.

Not anymore. I’m going to try and gather the strength to eat at the Salad Works station in the food court today. I went on their website and looked over the calorie count for some of the salads and the dressings and I think I found a good combination for me:

A bently salad, which includes:

  • baked ham
  • roasted turkey
  • Swiss cheese
  • Romaine lettuce
  • chopped eggs
  • tomatoes

Minus the turkey, I think this is my top choice because I love all the ingredients and it’s about 244 calories per salad.

The website also has the nutritional information for the salad dressings, which is even more helpful because now I know exactly what I’m eating. I think I’ll go for the fat free honey mustard, which is only 45 calories per ounce. (As opposed to my usual French dressing, which is 130 calories.)

I told myself I wouldn’t count calories, but my dad is making me take part in this website called Lose It where you insert your calorie intake and the amount of exercise you do each day. You also put in your usual stats, plus your weight loss goal, and it calculates how much you should be eating each day to lose the weight you want (in a healthy way). It’s actually been really helpful so far.

Anyway, I’m off to the mall now. Wish me luck!
