Well everyone, it's summer!

Hey Ladies and Guys :]

As you know I am not the skinniest girl and I have been looking in buying something that I would be able to wear in the summer and keep cool that wouldn’t expose my fat thighs (they won’t be fat for very long mawhaha….) and I found MAXI SKIRTS.

Maxi Skirts are a nice trend for the summer because they are usually in light fabrics and in fun colors. I feel like they can go from day to night so I decided to do a fashion post on how I wear them.

…so….this is how I wear my maxi skirts. :]

Outfit 1

Top - J Brand - 29.99

Maxi Skirt - Ross - 9.99 (^_^ great price!)

Belt - Express - 2.99

Outfit 2

Top-Foreign Exchange -16.99?

Maxi Skirt - Ross - 9.99

Belt - Metro Park - 9.99

Thanks for stopping by.

How is everyone doing?  Have any of you reached your goal weights/ goal bodies yet?  I know i surely haven’t hahah.  Just because we’ve reached summer does.nt mean it’s time to quit though!!!   ESPECIALLY if your like me and have’t reached all of your goals yet.

Lets keep going!!

Make NEW goals!!!

Start out with smaller ones that will be easier to achieve. Things like , Eat a healthy breakfast everyday , or Consume less calories than you burn in a day , or lose one pound in a week!

Simple things so that when you reach them you will feel that much more motivated to keep going!

I was pretty upset when I realized i wasn’t going to have  my hot, sexy , summer body that i planned on having but that is NOT going to stop me!  And it shouldn’t stop you either!

Let’s (continue to) do this!!!!

;D

Crocheting New Plans

So now my exams are done, and so is my college life. The one question that is the most asked is-NOW WHAT? I dont know aunty-ji-that-I-just met! Actually I DO know, but explaining to you about how I want to do fashion communication and then further explain what that is and then on top of that get your disapproval since its too 'frivolous' a career path, is just not on top of my list at the moment. Sorry aunty ji. You will have to make do with -pata nahi-dekhte hai.

Anyway, I am looking (hunting/begging/scavenging) for an internship and I went for my first interview/metting today.
Hopefully things will fall in place.

Whatever does happen, will happen in July. I want to chill in June (as if I have been doing anything ELSE since my 12th boards!)

So I was really kicked about how I am going to do a post on what to-wear-to-an-internship- interview etc but then when I took some pictures, I realized I might have underplayed it a little too much. But I curled my hair, and they looked nice, or so I would like to believe :)

Although it IS pretty clear what I am wearing.

I wore a printed camisole which is from wet seal

On top of it I wore a crochet top. Yes yes CROCHET. This trend wasnt very appealing to me either. Too grandma like.

But I found this one at Sarojini Nagar (where else right?) and decided I would give it a shot. I think it was 300-350. For a price like that, I didnt mind buying it.Actually no, I DID mind, because I wasnt sure about the whole crochet thing. But my mother insisted. Well she WAS the one who was paying-who am I to argue?

Her theory is that crochet is pretty expensive since it has such intricate work.

ANYWAY, so I wore it today. It looks a little formal-ish

I just bought these earings at Forever21 and they are SO cute!

Bow Pendant- Forever 21

I don`t really like the buttons on this one. I think I am going to get some pearl ones.

I want to do a lot of things this month:

* Learn how to DRIVE. I`am 21 now, and it`s about time! I am totally going to do this. I have been putting it off since i was 18!

*Get some clothes MADE. Yes like take designs from the net-specially from places like ZARA and copy them. I am going to do a whole post on that actually.

*Volunteer at an animal shelter

*Work on the blog shop- If you havnt visited The Classy & Fabulous Blog Shop please do. And spread the word to your friends maybe? Or just give me some kind of feedback, I will very much appreciate it. I made my first sale today :)

So anyway that was a random, whats been up sort of a post. What are your summer plans?

Get Over it-Dress Over It

Skirt-Van Huesen [Bought in the summer of 08!]

Lace Top-Forever New

Pearl Bracelet-Forever 21

Ring - Forever 21

I know so many girls in this city, who are not able to dress according what their style really is, because, well the mentality of men in this city is messed up. I am not even going to begin to explain what all they do. They dont even NEED to DO anything. Their creepy stares are quite enough.

I would SO love to wear nice summer skirts and dresses in this scorching heat. But, I dont. I know that ALL girls would be so much happier in expressing themselves through the clothes they REALLY want to wear, if this creep factor wasn't so high in Delhi.

Its perfectly fine to look at a person an appreciate them. Girls do it all the TIME. But there is a subtly to it you see. These creepy men need to STOP raping us with their eyes. I wish all men who did this were shot in the head. If you do it subtly, it wont make the other person uncomfortable.
Anyway, it`s not like the people who do it-stare and be FULL ON letchy will ever READ, let alone read a blog or THIS blog.

No I did not have a horrible experience recently, I am just annoyed at how the way I want to dress is so restricted, by these uneducated creatures.

Of course Delhi is very unsafe for women, and it obviously goes beyond clothes. This is made very clear every other day in the damn newspapers and it was made abundantly clear when Radhika Tanwar was shot dead near her college on Womens Day this year.

My mother makes a good point- When there is a mad dog or any other uncontrollable animal is on the loose, who poses a threat and can do harm to others, we make sure something is done about the ANIMAL,we restrict IT, rather than locking ourselves in our house

Girls from the beginning are told how NOT to dress, how NOT to behave. But are BOYS on the other hand ever told HOW to behave with women, HOW to respect them and what NOT to do in regard to them?

Obviously this is also about the class differences of our society, education and dogmatic mindsets.

Anyway. All I am saying is that  there is a very very long way to go before we can actually reach the level of comfort as maybe people of say, NEW YORK  feel, but maybe we can get what the people living in Bombay have?

Or Maybe I'am just being a prude and I should GET OVER IT

I was talking to someone about this, before writing the post and she said-"Dress is the first announcement of democratic thought"

Which is quite true. I just want to express my democratic dressing right!!

Oh, and by the way I acessorized the above outfit with a matching dog :)
(not my dog)

Sorry for this "issues of society" post (told you this one would be a socially relevant one) but
I would really like to know what you guys feel about this. Even if you dont live in Delhi, because I am not sure whether what I feel is right or I am just being over conscious.

The Shortcomings Of Being Tall

Bag-Sarojini Nagar as mentioned here.

Yes, You are looking at my behind!

Skirt- Forever New
I really like the cut of this skirt, it`s very structured. Also love the pockets and of course the bow at the back!!
Top- Janpath, bought two years ago.
Black (somewhat) pumps- Vansons
They are nothing compared to the love of my life

So, if you grace this blog with your presence often, you might be wondering why I have a title that seems to  reflect my (apparent) problem with my height. But I am sorry, okay. I have issues with it.

I wore heels..not even full on pumps, just a little heel to a get together recently, and as soon as I entered all I could hear were moans. No they were not people moaning at how amazing I looked.
My friends were complaining and repeatedly asking me "WHY ARE YOU WEARING THOSE'' & "DO YOU LIKE TO MAKE US FEEL BAD?"

Well what am I supposed to do if they are..well SHORT? I want to wear heels, Hell I want to wear PUMPS. All The Time. I like how they look okay, and they give me good posture.

But no. I cant, without looking like the BIG (somewhat)FRIENDLY GIANT. And yes, this would be the place for people to say, why are you complaining, you are so tall. Whats the big deal? ( I`am 5'8, if I have failed to mention before.)

Don`t get me wrong, I love how tall I am. It does have its numerous advantages. But then the pitfalls include not being able to wear the kind of footwear you lust after. And if I happen to wear them once in awhile, I get all the girls really whiny and the guys absolutely HATE the fact that I am taller than them. Once this guy friend came over before we were heading out for a party, when he saw I was wearing heels, he wouldn't budge from my house until I changed into flats, or anything that wouldn't make him look like a midget!

Anyway, the grass is always greener on the other side right? Girls with curly hair want straight hair, girls with straight hair want to curl their hair all the time.

But I don`t even WANT to reduce my height or anything. Why cant other people be taller. OR why don`t they wear heels as well!?

Sorry for this incredibly RANDOM and VAIN post. The next one will be about a very socially relevant and pressing issue.
Okay, who am I kidding? It`ll be about fashion. But no, seriously the two will be connected. Promise!

Is there anyone else who has a hang-up like mine? You really want to wear something/do something but JUST CANT? Or am I the only lunatic that cant be thankful for what she has?

Yeah thought so.

Get Drunk After The Niceties Are Over

Conti Couture

[My post title is courtesy  Mehak from Peaches&Blushes who came up with it when I complained of not liking the word CONTI over twitter, and my sub heading is courtesy my verrryyyy good friend, Saali Khushi. So due credit to them and none to me for my KAAM CHORI!]

So I am not going to bore you with the clichéd college is ending 'oh-my-godsss'  and I will get right down to the good stuff.

Nude Strappy Flats- Finesse, Khan Market

Sit,I shall tell you a story.

I was walking  trekking through Sarojini Nagar looking for this shop called KINS ( I`ve talked about this in my Sarojini Nagar Shopping post) and I say I am trekking because that day the entire Sarojini was dug up cos they were laying CCTV cables. So there is basically nowhere to you can normally walk. There are just large chunks of what used to be a path lying around everywhere. I suddenly saw this amazing pink coral dress hanging in front of a random shop. I asked the guy if there is any other color available (this is something I ALWAYS do, ask for all the colors of anything I want so I can choose the one I like the best) he says no. I believe him cos I actually couldn't see anything else in his little shop which resembled this.
He said 300. My mother walked away. Then he said "okay 200"

The tag says Lipsy London. I went to their site to so I could actually see how much this really was for.
Although I couldn`t place this particular dress, most of their dresses are for 55 Pounds.Which is QUITE alot.

Moral of the story? Shop At Sarojini.

Onto The Accessories

Pearl Necklace worn as a Bracelet- ALDO
Silver Stone Earings- Local Silver Shop
Nailpolish- Colorbar Exclusive 59, this nailpolish should actually be called SHINY DISCO BALLS

If you rewind back to about 4 years ago, I remember how there were such few shops you could go to to buy dresses. It used to be so damn hard to find a dress you actually liked. I remember only finding them in Benetton or places like Westside. Westside seldom had any and Benetton didn`t have a large variety.
For one of my school contis this girl and I picked up the same dress. It was very annoying because I had bought it a good 5-6 months before her. Anyway, looking back it was a petty thing (come on though, you know my annoyance was justified!!) and I bet this girl doesn't even WANT to wear dresses anymore. Why I am saying all this is because with the sudden entry of high street labels such as Mango, Promod, Zara , Forever 21 there is no dearth of dresses and no one can actually say there is no choice or variety. We are actually spoilt for choice now. I bet even with these many choices people end up wearing the same dress to a party but I doubt that that feeling of desperation is still there which at least we used to have when we were in school.

Anyway so that random rant ends there.

Surprise Outfit Post!

One Saturday Morning while I was fast asleep I heard my mother rummaging through my stuff. A little later she came in and said "I`am looking very smart today" I said "Hmmm" and went back to sleep.

When she came back from work I saw the "smartness"

and then I told her she`s going to be on my blog :) !

Owl Necklace and Bag from Forever 21

She is extremely proud of this bag which she got for like 800/- in sale!

The owl necklace is mine btw.

And the Leopard print scarf is for Rs 80/-, bought from a random stall!

I Got The Skinny Belt!

After missing a skinny belt in my last outfit post I went out and bought one!

Belt-Forever 21 (399/-)

Grey Oversized Cardigan- Forever 21

Bright Pink Sweater- Benetton

4 rings -Forever 21

India needs to get Matte Nailpolishes.
They are brilliant and so different!

Another pair of stacked rings - Forever 21

Earrings- Forever 21!!

I NEED to shop somewhere other than Forever 21! Next thing I am going to be spending on will be shoes. Flats mostly. And hopefully a good tote bag!

WIDE!

( The title is supposed to be a pun. Since I am wearing W I D E pants, and the CWC is on. Nevermind. )

I don`t think this outfit is very complete. I would love to have a skinny belt to pair with this, but um..I dont have one.

Cream Linen Pants: Got them stitched in the summer of 08

Three Heart Necklace : American Eagle

Necklace worn as a bracelet -Forever 21
Also worn Here.

Black And White Check Shirt- Janpath

And my favourite Zara flats : )

For The Love Of Lace!

Purple Suede Shoes- Khan Mkt

Whats so great about this plain random outift you ask?

Lace Sweatshirt- Forever 21

I turn around and

Bam!

I have already admitted to my LACE ADDICTION in my

Rock The Trend Lace edition.

I absolutely adore this sweatshirt for the surprise factor it has. Its just a plain old boring grey sweatshirt from the front and the whole back is Black Lace.

And I can switch it up by wearing different colours underneath it.

Simple Night Out Outfit

Yup! When I say simple, I MEAN it : )

Necklace and Grey Dress- Forever 21
Flats- Zara
Tights - Marks and Spencers

Tuxedo Jacket- FCUK

I was planning on wearing the tuxedo jacket in case it got cold at night but surprisingly Delhi was really really hot this weekend. And its Feburary!

Anyway. I NEED these pumps. I do not know who makes them I just saw this picture and I NEED THEM!!

Actually I have been wanting a good pair of pumps since last winter. Even though I`ll rarely wear them cos I am 5'8 and with any pair of heels  I tower over EVERYONE!
But they look so damn good! My mother thinks I am being ridiculous and look like a giant. But they are the ONLY kind of heels I like. I cannot deal with kitten heels or medium sized ones. Its either flats or pumps for me. No middle ground!

The best place to get a pair is from Zara and Forever 21. The amount of Pumps that the Forever 21 website has is amazing but in their store they have like 3-4 styles. I wish they stocked a larger variety. Zara of course has a big shoe section.

All from F21. I want the sequined black ones so bad!

I also want to check out this one shop in Sarojini Nagar that everyone raves about and I have only seen from outside. They supposedly sell really nice pumps.
