Get Over it-Dress Over It

Skirt-Van Huesen [Bought in the summer of 08!]

Lace Top-Forever New

Pearl Bracelet-Forever 21

Ring - Forever 21

I know so many girls in this city, who are not able to dress according what their style really is, because, well the mentality of men in this city is messed up. I am not even going to begin to explain what all they do. They dont even NEED to DO anything. Their creepy stares are quite enough.

I would SO love to wear nice summer skirts and dresses in this scorching heat. But, I dont. I know that ALL girls would be so much happier in expressing themselves through the clothes they REALLY want to wear, if this creep factor wasn't so high in Delhi.

Its perfectly fine to look at a person an appreciate them. Girls do it all the TIME. But there is a subtly to it you see. These creepy men need to STOP raping us with their eyes. I wish all men who did this were shot in the head. If you do it subtly, it wont make the other person uncomfortable.
Anyway, it`s not like the people who do it-stare and be FULL ON letchy will ever READ, let alone read a blog or THIS blog.

No I did not have a horrible experience recently, I am just annoyed at how the way I want to dress is so restricted, by these uneducated creatures.

Of course Delhi is very unsafe for women, and it obviously goes beyond clothes. This is made very clear every other day in the damn newspapers and it was made abundantly clear when Radhika Tanwar was shot dead near her college on Womens Day this year.

My mother makes a good point- When there is a mad dog or any other uncontrollable animal is on the loose, who poses a threat and can do harm to others, we make sure something is done about the ANIMAL,we restrict IT, rather than locking ourselves in our house

Girls from the beginning are told how NOT to dress, how NOT to behave. But are BOYS on the other hand ever told HOW to behave with women, HOW to respect them and what NOT to do in regard to them?

Obviously this is also about the class differences of our society, education and dogmatic mindsets.

Anyway. All I am saying is that  there is a very very long way to go before we can actually reach the level of comfort as maybe people of say, NEW YORK  feel, but maybe we can get what the people living in Bombay have?

Or Maybe I'am just being a prude and I should GET OVER IT

I was talking to someone about this, before writing the post and she said-"Dress is the first announcement of democratic thought"

Which is quite true. I just want to express my democratic dressing right!!

Oh, and by the way I acessorized the above outfit with a matching dog :)
(not my dog)

Sorry for this "issues of society" post (told you this one would be a socially relevant one) but
I would really like to know what you guys feel about this. Even if you dont live in Delhi, because I am not sure whether what I feel is right or I am just being over conscious.

How?

Now we all know Taylor Momsen who plays Jenny Humpfrey on Gossip Girl.
So you must remember sweet little Jenny from Brooklyn right?

Good.

SO how does this sweet little girl

go on to become
this...

There are about a gazillion pictures of her dressed inappropriately. Here is another one which puzzles me greatly. What is Wrong with this girl. She`s just seventeen for gods sake. I mean you can see another Lindsay Lohan waiting in the line.
And her inappropriateness doesn't stop at her dressing sense. She has a band called 'The Pretty Reckless' They were performing I think a week ago somewhere and guess what our favorite raccoon eyed teen did? She flashed the audience. I kid you not, Google it. Did i mention she`s SEVENTEEN? I mean wtf? She`s Underage! So does that mean the entire audience can go to jail for that though? But atleast she had pasties on! (to cover her..you know)
She`s real classy I tell you.
She`s the perfect kind of role model the teens of today need!

But she this gives me a great idea for a Halloween costume! [How many of you wish we in India celebrated proper Halloween and not the cheap version of it! Its the perfect holiday you get to dress up and try to be as creative as possible!] Anyway. If you want to go as Taylor Momsen for Halloween all you need is something black and teeny tiny (preferably ribbed) to cover your personal parts (or not!) and some charcoal.

STEP 1- Close your eyes
Step 2- Rub charcoal all around eyes

Tada!

*UPDATE*
People asked me where they can buy these titles from and yes it is difficult to come across in book stores so I suggest you go to www.flipkart.com .
They stock all imported books and they are not at all expensive specially after the discount they give. They also have an option between Hardcover and Paperback on certain books, paperbacks being cheaper of course
I am totally in love with this site. The best part is that they have a CASH ON DELIVERY option!!

Closing Ceremony!

Just got back from the closing ceremony. Oh.My.God.

It blew my mind. I hope you guys watched it. It was amazing and the stadium is so well built. The whole ceremony was like a big party. Loved it

Just read some negative tweets about it though. They added the bollywood part in the end cos they knew the crowd would enjoy it. Which they DID. Everyone was dancing and singing along. Even the athletes were dancing with each other on the ground. And I mean ALL the athletes not just the ones from India.
When everyone was leaving the athletes stayed back and they were asked to come to the center and dance, it was their after party!

I guess you had to be there to witness the mammoth event, to really get the feel of it.

Buzz In Town

A little off topic but.....

tomorrow is the last day for the Commonwealth Games. I don`t know if there are any events on the closing day (14th)
I dont know about you but I`am quite sad. yes i know the whole thing was plagued by months and months of controversies and yes there have been glitches in these two weeks. I am not an expert to comment on this but personally I really like the way the city is looking. If you go towards central Delhi and explore a little its so nicely lit up and organized. The few times I have traveled that side I absolutely loved it and didnt really face any traffic problems. There is this buzz, a certain energy you get to experience. You know something big is happening in your city. It`s like diwali but for two weeks and all the important buildings and monuments are lit up. From The National Museum Of Modern Art to every metro station. Go to Connaught Place and look how radiant it looks. After complaining about parking and the roads being dug up I quite like the end result. When I would hear people whining about how they have ruined CP and it`s so hard to go there with all the construction I would get a little ticked off. I wanted to to explain to them that when they are making an effort to improve something we will obviously have to deal with the process. It cant go from one condition to an entirely new one in a day. Obviously there will be construction and there will be a little chaos for some time. Yes i know that they have renovated the front of CP and not the back. Which I agree sucks. But have you noticed the giant TV screens installed in CP and the crowds watching the events? And the loud cheer when India wins? Can you feel the togetherness and the energy.
Janpath Lit Up

Call me weird but I love the way the games buses along with their security cars rush past you in their designated games lane. I am sorry this is weird but I love order and organization.

Yes it is despicable the amount of money thats been wasted.I `am sure no Delhite is going to forget that but I am really glad that there is an effortless energy and unity in the city. I am happy no one 'boycotted' the games like they were told to by many media personalities. Just because you are happy about an event happening in your city and support it doesn't mean you forget the negative points about it. But it also should`nt stop you from seeing the positive in it.

I am sad that its ending. I don`t want the little buzz in the city to go away. I know it eventually will. But I really hope the organization and order of the city doesn`t.

As for me, I am going to soak up the last day :)
