Miss Midi

Many predict that the Midi Skirt is going to be HUGE this fall-unfortunately we don't have a 'fall' here in Delhi. Okay we have those 3-4 in October where you can pretend its fall but then just as you are getting into the mood of a nice comfortable chill BAM! the fogs hits you and you are frozen. True story. Thats why there is a cheap song called Dilli Ki Sardi- It will turn you into a popsciple.

ANYWAY- this skirt works well in our type of weather too (sticky hot and humid)

It`s nice,light and breezy!

Marc By Marc Jacobs

You don't have to be a prude or an uptight lawyer to wear them. I think they`re ultra feminine and playful and when worn right can make you look impeccably polished!

Popular in the 1940's the midi skirt was pushed off the scene by the mini skirt by the 60's. Then again in the 70`s it showed its face again. Well, what goes around comes around cos they're clearly back this year!

Its an extremely versatile piece to have in your wardrobe, specially if you want to change up your look once in awhile.

Very easy to switch it from day to night.

I do admit that it`s a little tricky to pull off. It can end up looking extremely dowdy and matronly.

If you go with a  bouncy and flared one then pair it with a fitted top. Add a little oomph to it with a nice top and the right kind of make up.

It is also very flattering to any body shape especially taller women. The midi will make you look lean and sophisticated.

(I recently ordered the cutest sandals that would go with a nice and flowy midi skirt. Not to hunt for the actual skirt!)

Imsu from As I Like It looks super chic in a vintage pleated skirt and a fitted top

Also I think its great to wear it in a city like Delhi-you arn`t exposing too much and wont be letched at quite as much. (Cleary that is a HUGE factor for me when I am choosing outfits. My style would be SO different if our country didnt SUCK so much in that department, Oh well thats for another post)

If they guy STILL wants to stare at ur ankles, well thats just weird.

So, what do YOU think of MISS MIDI

Neon Neon

Is the John Mayer Song now stuck in your head? Good. Cos it`s been in my head since I decided to do this post.

I quite like the NEON trend. I like to call it ColourBlocking on COCAINE.
It fits, no?

I think the best way to do neon is either on its own, like a solid neon dress or mix and break it with neutrals.

Or do it with your accessories, like a pop of colour on your shoes or

a bright lipstick OR

Photobucket with a bright bag from ZARA

I went to Zara recently, and I kid you not, you need to wear shades when you enter the store. People who can`t/don`t really work with too much colour WILL have a hear attack from all the brightness and those who absolutely LOVE colour (like tanvi and I) will ALSO have a heart attack, from the sudden excitement.

I love pops of colour, or colour in general ( i am a VERYYYY colourful person ) and I have embraced neons as if it were my long lost child (pet is more like it).

These days I have shockingly coral nails as you might`ve seen while I hand model over at the Classy&Fabulous Shop (sorry for the shameless self promotion)

My eye popping neon nailpolishes

The trick with neons is to go easy, have it as a surprise element in your outfit.
And remember the line between embracing neons and looking like Govinda is very thin.

But also have fun with it, goes without saying actually.
One plus with the Delhi sun is that it makes colour REALLY pop.

These are my neon staples at the moment, and you can see me wearing a solid neon coral dress in my Graduation Party/ Conti Post

I want to attack ZARA once more though.

So will you let NEONS in or just put your shades on, and move on?

Crocheting New Plans

So now my exams are done, and so is my college life. The one question that is the most asked is-NOW WHAT? I dont know aunty-ji-that-I-just met! Actually I DO know, but explaining to you about how I want to do fashion communication and then further explain what that is and then on top of that get your disapproval since its too 'frivolous' a career path, is just not on top of my list at the moment. Sorry aunty ji. You will have to make do with -pata nahi-dekhte hai.

Anyway, I am looking (hunting/begging/scavenging) for an internship and I went for my first interview/metting today.
Hopefully things will fall in place.

Whatever does happen, will happen in July. I want to chill in June (as if I have been doing anything ELSE since my 12th boards!)

So I was really kicked about how I am going to do a post on what to-wear-to-an-internship- interview etc but then when I took some pictures, I realized I might have underplayed it a little too much. But I curled my hair, and they looked nice, or so I would like to believe :)

Although it IS pretty clear what I am wearing.

I wore a printed camisole which is from wet seal

On top of it I wore a crochet top. Yes yes CROCHET. This trend wasnt very appealing to me either. Too grandma like.

But I found this one at Sarojini Nagar (where else right?) and decided I would give it a shot. I think it was 300-350. For a price like that, I didnt mind buying it.Actually no, I DID mind, because I wasnt sure about the whole crochet thing. But my mother insisted. Well she WAS the one who was paying-who am I to argue?

Her theory is that crochet is pretty expensive since it has such intricate work.

ANYWAY, so I wore it today. It looks a little formal-ish

I just bought these earings at Forever21 and they are SO cute!

Bow Pendant- Forever 21

I don`t really like the buttons on this one. I think I am going to get some pearl ones.

I want to do a lot of things this month:

* Learn how to DRIVE. I`am 21 now, and it`s about time! I am totally going to do this. I have been putting it off since i was 18!

*Get some clothes MADE. Yes like take designs from the net-specially from places like ZARA and copy them. I am going to do a whole post on that actually.

*Volunteer at an animal shelter

*Work on the blog shop- If you havnt visited The Classy & Fabulous Blog Shop please do. And spread the word to your friends maybe? Or just give me some kind of feedback, I will very much appreciate it. I made my first sale today :)

So anyway that was a random, whats been up sort of a post. What are your summer plans?

Et Tu, Tutu?

ROCK THE TREND

Blame it on Carrie Bradshaw

or Black Swan

the tutu trend is here and you need to deal with it!! No, I kid.

But hey are not JUST for Kids, although Suri Cruise does rock them!

They gripped the runways this season as well.

Alexander McQueen

Of course these have been inspired by the Tutu and you can`t really expect models strutting down wearing the same tulle skirt for every label.

That`s what is fun though, interpreting the skirt your own way.

I wouldn`t mind wearing a nice flouncy tutu. Maybe to a party or out clubbing. Its quirky and fun yet elegant. I quite like the idea of it actually.

( Zara has a very similar bag in quite a lot of colours for 1500/-, which I wish I had bought! )

The last time I checked , Forever 21 had some really cute tutu skirts.

It`s a very feminine look which I would LOVE to rock.

What do you think? LOVE it? HATE it?

MEH?

Trend Report Part Deux. Rock The Trend Deluxe Edition!

So here we are finally at Part II of my Trend Report 2011

Print On Print

The easiest way to do this would be to just wear one dress which has the whole print on print theme going on but where is the creativity in that?

I would keep the accessories to a minimum or have really light ones. Keep the shoes to a solid colour so as to not go overboard.Same with the make up.
The best part of this trend is you get to mix and match a lot of things.

But you should remember to combine patterns that compliment each other. Like Stripes + Florals, Stripes+Animal Print. Stripes can generally help and play the role of the basic print to which you can add another print.
If you think the outfit will become very chaotic then space the prints out. Its not necessary to have ONE print on ANOTHER. Like in the first outfit the solid black shorts give a break between the polka dotted stocking and the floral sweater.
Another thing to try is to use different size of prints.

That 70s Show
You can Raid your Mothers Closet for this one!

Ring, Hoops and Bangles from FOREVER 21

Similar wedge platforms available there RIGHT NOW!

I love the wide leg pants. Don`t particularly like flared ones tho. Prefer straight wide legged ones.

Derek Lam

As I mentioned before, I would love to see some one like Malaika Arora in wear this trend. She would make it look so effortless and simple

Minimalism
A complete COLOUR LOVER, I find myself reaching for more of neutral shades these days. I don`t really know why. Something about the winters, makes you want to wear neutrals even though you make an effort towards colours.

Anyway. I didn`t think I`d like this trend very much but clearly it has grown on me. It can me you look so elegant and chic without much effort.
There were so many good examples of minimalism on the red carpet at the Golden Globes.
The key to this trend is Accessorize Wisely

Colour Blocking
The reddish pinkish skirt I have used is really similar to a red skirt I bought at forever21 last week (will do a haul next! )

They have so many colours in a solid stretch jersey skirt. A must have basic!
Bangles from F21

Yes. I am looking forward to wearing this trend. HOW did you know?
Another really fun trend where you can really play around and mix and match lots of things. Yes it is a little bold but don`t worry, you`ll really enjoy wearing this. Just keep the accessories neutral so its not TOO jhataak

ITS A LONG STORY

So the story about long skirts and me is that when I was in 8th and 9th grade ethnic long skirts (specially from fabindia, Anoki and Janpath) were all the rage. At every get to gether or party me and my friends could be seen wearing these. And we all made it a point to buy lots and lots of them.
As we grew up we found out love for dresses skirts and the long skirts are still stored away in the top most section of my wardrobe, untouched for years.

Even if I try out this trend, I am sure I would be steering clear of the ethnic long skirts. I think I have been there and very much DONE that.

So I have tried very hard to put a 'maxi skirt' look together, without it looking too matronly.
I choose a somewhat structured skirt with layers as opposed to flowly ones for that reason.

Some skirts from ZARA.

Also they have an amazing sale on:)

If any of you have tried these trends or want to, Take a picture and send it to me! I would love to do a post on you!
Also if you have tried any of the other ROCK THE TRENDS (Boyfriend BlazerLaceMilitary Jacket ) send me a picture : )

Tell me what you think about these looks. Love it or Hate it ?

Hope you`re having an awesome week!

Boyfriend Blazer

Boyfriend blazers are extremely  versatile: they can easily be worn casually for a day of classes, but they can also be dressed up for for the night with the right accessories.

'Boyfriend Blazer' doesn`t mean you just go into your man`s closet and pick one up and put it on. The fit still has to be right for you. Its actually the fit and the cut of the blazer that makes it feminine.

This trend also allows for a lot of layering which is perfect for the weather right now.

ROCK THE TREND

New Year Eve II

Ring-Forever 21
Here I played with the texture of the Blazer and went with a Sequined one. But its not all out BLINGY. Quite subtle.
Zara has a similar grey one which i LOVE.
Also, jewel tones are so pretty without looking as if you tried too hard.
These Oscar de le Renta drop earrings are on literally every Christmas gift guide that I have been through and apparently are sold out on most of the online shopping sites. I am not surprised. They are absolutely gorgeous and are for $309.

All the blazers I have mentioned are available at Forever 21, Zara, Mango, Promod, Only, Vero Moda, Marks and Spencers and you might want to check out other high street brands. I got one from FCUK last year and the fit is brilliant.

[Have tried to feature as many products that are available here or something similar can be found in INDIA. If you want to know exact details about certain products I have mentioned, Please tell me : ) ]

LOVE LACE
MILITARIZE
Would you try this trend?

LoveLace!

Rock The Trend

The title of this post is so because I do, in fact Love Lace.
I am so glad that it has become acceptable to wear it again these past seasons without looking like you are wearing lingerie and/or a wedding gown.
I love how lace lets you play a game of peek-a-boo without being vulgar or over the top.
The key to wearing this trend is to keep it simple and wear something underneath! We don`t want too much of peeking!

So what if its getting colder, doesn`t mean you can`t still wear lace. There are plenty of lace sweaters and jackets out there and it`s great to wear it layered as well. You can work lace from day to night and make it look edgy (black lace top with lots of silver accessories) or quite pretty and feminine. You can play with it and get really creative. Here are some sets I put together.

Casual College
I couldn`t really decide between the flats for this look so I put both. You can get the exact same   blue suede shoes [ :) ]  (minus the heel) at Khan Market,Delhi for like Rs.200
I bought them in three colours last winter and they are amazing!
The Leopard print flat and Bag is from ZARA,the earings from FOREVER 21. You can get something like this bow necklace from Forever 21 aswell.

The last time I went to Forever 21 i saw lots of lace sweaters/sweatshirts and also picked one up. They are really warm and oh-so-cute!

Family Lunch
Necklace,Striped Top, Bangles and Bag - FOREVER 21
Beige Pumps- ZARA

ITS A DATE!
Pumps and Ring-FOREVER 21
Bag-ZARA

I know I have used a lot of neutral colors in the lace items but there are very few colours apart from the neutrals which look good in lace. Some other colours I would suggest would be purple, navy and emerald green.
I also know that I have mainly used ZARA and FOREVER 21 but its because they seem to have all the good things which are accessible to most of us and at a good price. and Not because they are paying me to feature their products ( I WISH! ) I have not mentioned names or brands of some pieces because they are not available here but something similar definitely is!

So, tell me what you think! How are you going to ROCK lace this season? Are you wearing it at all?  Which look is for you and which is`nt!
Did you like any of the sets I put together? : )
