Victoria Beckham: 'I can't leave Harper Seven alone for a minute'

Victoria Beckham has said that she can't bring herself to be apart from new daughter Harper Seven.

The former Spice Girl gave birth to her first daughter in July in a Los Angeles hospital. Speaking to Elle, Beckham said that she had yet to leave the baby.

"I can't leave her alone for a minute," she told the magazine. "I haven't been out without her since she was born nine weeks ago, she's too wonderful to leave."

The 37-year-old revealed that she had already taken Harper to her first designer shoe shop earlier this week.

"We went in to Prada yesterday and she loved it," Beckham said. "It was as if she was saying, 'Mummy, I'm home'."

Victoria Beckham tweets picture of David and baby Harper Seven.
She added that husband David "gets annoyed that I spend more on Harper's socks than his", adding: "Of course I do, he's fine with M&S."

Speaking as she unveiled her new 21-piece dress collection at New York Fashion Week, Beckham said that the project had been a "real labour of love" for her.

"We have been working on it for around a year," the designer said. "I wanted something that was a little bit more affordable but I did not want to compromise with design or quality. It's not a second line, or a diffusion line - it's another line, another side to my wardrobe. This is a way to give my customers what they want."

Katie Melua new album

Secret Symphony', the brand new album by Katie Melua, will be released on November 14th, 2011.

Katie Melua takes the stage in front of the Secret Symphony Orchestra, on this, her fifth album. Always happy to step away from people's expectations, Katie delivers a superbly crafted set of tracks interpreting songs drawn from a wide spectrum of songwriters including herself and Mike Batt.

"This album was going to be my 'singer's album' says Katie. I had always wanted to do this one day; singing other people's songs brings something out of you and your voice that isn't perhaps where you would have gone vocally with your own material. It stretches you. As it happened Mike and I did write a couple of new ones, but the general idea was to find songs by great writers such as Ron Sexsmith ('Gold In Them Hills') and a favourite song of mine, originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt ('Too Long At The Fair) plus some more well known ones like 'Keeping The Dream Alive'."

The result is a collaboration with orchestrator and conductor Batt that imbues the songs with a distinct personality that could only be the work of this creative team. The gorgeous 'Secret Symphony' album was recorded at Air Studios in London and represents a blend of musicianship and dedication that will delight existing Katie Melua fans and win her many new ones. Leila Lopes of Angola is crowned Miss Universe

SAO PAULO: Newly crowned Miss Universe Leila Lopes hopes her victory will allow her to assist her native Angola further escape its history of war and impoverishment and said she plans to focus on combatting HIV around the globe.

Speaking in a timid voice early Tuesday shortly after taking the crown in South America's largest city, the 25-year-old Lopes said that "as Miss Angola I've already done a lot to help my people."

"I've worked with various social causes. I work with poor kids, I work in the fight against HIV. I work to protect the elderly and I have to do everything that my country needs," she said. "I think now as Miss Universe I will be able to do much more."

Responding to questions, Lopes said that she has never had cosmetic surgery of any kind and that her three tips for beauty were to get a lot of sleep, use sun block even when it's not sunny and to drink lots of water. She said her smile was her best weapon in the competition.

Asked about racism in light of the fact that she's one of the few blacks ever crowned Miss Universe, Lopes said that "any racist needs to seek help. It's not normal in the 21st century to think in that way."

Lopes is Angola's first winner. She beat out 88 other competitors to win the title during the 60th anniversary of the world's biggest beauty pageant. She replaces last year's winner, Ximena Navarrete of Mexico.

She deftly handled the interview question that is asked of the remaining top five contestants. She was questioned about what physical trait she would change if she could.

"Thank God I'm very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn't change a thing," Lopes said. "I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life."

The first runner-up was 23-year-old Olesia Stefanko of Ukraine and the second runner-up was Priscila Machado of Brazil. The third was Miss Philippines and the fourth Miss China.

Contestants spent the past three weeks in Sao Paulo, trying to learn samba dance steps, visiting impoverished children and kicking a football around for cameras as the Miss Universe pageant came to Brazil for the first time.

Despite battling against a home country favorite, Lopes won over the audience, speaking in the shared language of Portuguese. Angola, like Brazil, is a former Portuguese colony.

"She captivated the crowd and we were all behind her," said Brazilian Natalie Bursztyn, 20, who was in the crowd inside Credicard Hall where the event took place. "It was great that the judges also saw what the fans saw and gave her the crown. Her dress was beautiful and she knew exactly what to say when they asked her the question about her looks."

Another fan in the audience, Carolina Rocha, said Lopes' win was "well deserved, we were cheering for her all along. Her smile and her friendliness was what set her apart from the others. She also answered her question very well, that likely helped her a lot."

US broadcast journalist Connie Chung was one of the celebrity judges, and said before the competition that she was taking the contest seriously.

"I know my job and I'll be tough, but fair," Chung said. "You have to keep in mind that these women are not objects just to be looked at. They're to be taken seriously. I want to choose somebody I take seriously and the world takes seriously, too."

Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe organization, was hyped for the night.

"It's our 60th anniversary, it's a very big show," she said. "We're anticipating close to a billion viewers from around the world."

Shugart said it was fitting the globe's biggest beauty pageant be held in Brazil at this time, as the nation prepares to host some major events in the coming years.

"I don't think there is any doubt in the rest of the world's mind that Brazil is the place, between hosting the Olympics and hosting the World Cup," she said. "I love the fact we're going to kick it off. I always say we're the 'World Cup' of beauty."

The contestants must never have been married or had children and must be at least 18 years of age and under 27 years of age by Feb. 1 of the competition year.

The pageant, hosted by NBC "Today" anchor Natalie Morales and the Bravo network's Andy Cohen, was broadcastr live on NBC and distributed to about 170 countries. The contest is co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC, and the celebrity judges included Chung and two prominent Brazilians, supermodel Isabeli Fontana and Indy race car driver Helio Castroneves.

Morales, who is half Brazilian, said that "what's most important is for the women to be beautiful inside and out."

For Cohen, the task of hosting was an easy one.

"It's a fun job. All I have to do is stand there, smile and scream the names of countries," he said.

Sharply dressed women and men jostled for chances to have their photos taken with stars on the red carpet. Some traveled from across the globe to support contestants.

Jehona Dreshaj, 17, arrived from Kosovo to cheer on her sister, Aferdita Dreshaj, who is representing the European country.

"It doesn't really matter the outcome, she is already a winner in our eye and we are so proud of her," she said. "This has been an incredible experience for her and for all of us. It's great for her to be representing our country in an event like this"

There have been no headline-grabbing gaffes going into this year's competition, as opposed to past years that have seen controversies of various stripes. The show itself went off without a hitch.

Some of the contestants have complained to the local news media about the size of bikinis used in some photo shoots, with Miss Mexico Karin Ontiveros saying they were "very small."

That was enough to draw chuckles in Brazil, where women from all walks of life, not just beauty queens, sport barely there swimwear on beaches throughout the country.

Miss USA Alyssa Campanella, from California, failed to end a long losing spell for the US in the competition. An American has not been named Miss Universe since Brook Lee won the title in 1997.

The pageant started as a local bathing suit revue in Long Beach, California, organized by a swimwear company. (AP)

Lindsay Lohan's old new look baffles fashionistas

Lindsay Lohan "nearly caused a riot" at a New York Fashion Week show over the weekend.

The Hollywood actress caused a stir amongst fashion followers at Cynthia Rowley's presentation on Friday night.

According to New York Magazine's fashion bloggers The Fug Girls at The Cut, there was nearly a "riot" when the style-conscious crowd realised who she was.

"The entire room full of journalists sat ramrod straight and let out excited, disbelieving, four-letter expletives as we all realised this was actually Lindsay Freaking Lohan," they wrote on the blog.

Lohan was reportedly mistaken for fashion designer Donatella Versace by the bloggers. However, the star caused a wave of attention when people realised who she was.

"The take-home here for Lindsay should be that we all initially mistook her for somebody much crispier who is thirty years her senior, but we suspect instead she will mentally gloss over that part and focus only on how fast the crowd of blase, already-burned-out fashionistas whipped out their smartphones and overloaded AT&T service," the bloggers continued.

Lohan, 25, was wearing shorts and a flowing white top as she attended the show. She was escorted to her front row seat by several security guards.

According to The Cut, one photographer became a little over-zealous when he spotted Lohan. He went out on the runway to get a closer picture of the star before organisers at the event confiscated his camera and credentials.

"The room applauded, led by Lindsay herself," the website revealed.

Tamara Ecclestone's $1.5m crystal bath

When your house is worth £47 million ($72 million), how do you decorate the bathroom? With a £1m bath made of crystal, of course - at least, you do if you are Tamara Ecclestone, the daughter of billionaire Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone.

In an interview with the UK's Daily Mail, the older sister of recently-married Petra confirmed tabloid reports that several minions had been sent "up the Amazon" to gather crystal to be turned into a bathtub. "It's completely true," she told the newspaper.

"It’s costing £1 million because I’ve got to reinforce the floor and I’ve had to pay for everyone’s travel and the hauling back and polishing of the crystal. But I spend a lot of time in the bath so it’s worth it."

The socialite, model and television presenter, who was the bridesmaid at her sister's recent £5 million wedding, insists that she has a "grounded" attitude to money, courtesy of her father, a self-made man. "He raised me to appreciate money and not to take it for granted," she says. "I was raised to want to work for a living."

The socialite, model and television presenter is currently in Los Angeles, where she has announced she is looking for a second home "starting at the £100 million mark".

Petra Ecclestone has already moved to the city, having bought the £91 million hilltop mansion previously owned by Aaron Spelling, the late creator of Dynasty and Beverley Hills 90210, three months ago.

Sarah McLachlan Sings Tribute at Flight 93 Memorial Dedication Ceremony

Just a day before the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, Sarah McLachlan gave a touching tribute to those who lost their lives when hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed to the ground in Shanksville, Penn.

Playing the piano in a somber black pantsuit, the Grammy winner sang "I Will Remember You" at the Flight 93 National Memorial dedication at the crash site.

Last week, McLachlan tweeted, "Honored to be performing at a dedication ceremony for the 9/11 memorial for Flight 93 in western Pennsylvania on Sept 10th."

Over 4,000 people, including Vice President Joe Biden and former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, were on hand for the dedication of the Memorial Plaza and Field of Honor, which surrounds the area where the flight went down in a rural field.

The hijackers, who intended to crash the plane in Washington, "never made it because of the determination and valor of the passengers and crew of Flight 93," John Jarvis, director of the National Park Service, said during the ceremony. "That plane crashed in this field, less than 20 minutes by air" from its target. "Each of them is an American hero."

During the ceremony, the names of the 40 victims of the crash were read aloud, as bells tolled in their honor Read more at Eonline

Minka Kelly Open Up About 'Complicated' Relationship

Long before Minka Kelly hit the small screen on "Friday Night Lights" and the upcoming "Charlie's Angels," she was just a kid in a single-parent home watching her mom trying to make ends meet.

The actress recently opened up to Cosmopolitan about her not-so-normal childhood and her mother's death.

"She was 5ft 11, legs up to her ears, gorgeous," Kelly said (via Daily Mail) about her mother, Maureen, who tried to pay the bills by working various jobs, including as a stripper. "She got along on that for as long as she could."

Kelly describes her relationship with her mother as "pretty complicated," adding that her dad, former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay, wasn't around much. But she was there at her mom's bedside three years ago when she died of colon cancer.

"That's detectable," Kelly said of the disease. "Talk about being reckless and not paying attention to your body."

But, complicated relationship and all, she was with her mom until the end.

"By the time she passed I was holding her," she said. "I was with her until her last breath. We made it."

For now, Kelly is busying concentrating on her much-hyped revival of "Charlie's Angels," which premieres Sept. 22 on ABC. But while her career is heating up, the same can't be said for her personal life. Read More

Elisabetta Canalis Gets Naked for PETA

Elisabetta Canalis is definitely coming out of her post-breakup shell. The Italian model, actress and Dancing with the Stars contestant bares all in a brand-new anti-fur ad for PETA, released Friday.

In the stunning shot, Canalis, 32, shows off her flawless figure for PETA's famous "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign.

"I decided to go nude because I think that nudity always creates a big reaction," said Canalis, who split with George Clooney over the summer. "That is what is required to keep people's attention on such a brutal practice. These poor animals are electrocuted, skinned alive, drowned, and bludgeoned just for the sake of fashion."

She implores: "Don't buy fur...Even a little trim - your gloves or your bag or your jackets. You must remember that animals don't have a voice. You must be their voice. Never be afraid to speak up."

Meanwhile, as Canalis mends from her Clooney split, she's keeping busy -- and in incredible shape -- with rigorous DWTS training. "I have a very strict teacher," she told Italy's Chi magazine. "We practice for six hours a day!" (US MAGAZINE )

Kate Winslet: I Hate Getting Naked!

She's ditched her duds for various movie roles in the past, but that doesn't mean Kate Winslet is a fan of acting in the buff.

During a recent interview with V Magazine, the "Titanic" actress revealed her distaste for baring it all in front of the cameras, telling, “I Hate it! Listen make no mistake, I just get on it. I just go in and say ‘Oh f*ck’ let’s do it.’ and Boom. If you complain about it or procrastinate it’s not going to go away."

Kate continued, "It's a profoundly bizarre thing to do. As actors you talk about it all the time. You can literally be tangled in sheets, and you turn to the other actor and say ‘What the f*ck are we doing?’ Dear Mum, at work today I had so-and-so’s left nut sack pressed against my cheek. It’s sort of unethical if you think about it in those terms.”

However, despite her feelings towards filming in the nude, Winslet made sure to point out that it won't stop her from stripping down in the future, as she explained, “I hope I am sh*tting myself over the characters I play for the rest of my life. Because the day I go ‘Oh yeah, that’s going to be a piece of pie’, why f*cking bother? If you do that, you do not learn. I hope I’m always learning something. So I won an Oscar. It’s amazing. I’ve got that for the rest of my life for a performance I am proud of. It nearly killed me. I am really proud of the film. That’s it, moving on.” Read Full Story at Gossip Center

Bridget Marquardt: Why I Froze My Eggs

The former Playboy model and star of The Girls Next Door, 37, took matters into her own hands when she decided to get her eggs frozen three years ago.

"When I was 34 I went and had my eggs harvested," she told Us Weekly at the Josie Stevens Loves J. Valentine Fashion Show in Hollywood Wednesday. "Looking back I was like, 'It was easy,' but it wasn't that easy. It's a lot of medication, a lot of hormones. You have to inject yourself in the stomach and I'm so terrified of needles! It was a difficult thing for me to do."

The buxom blonde says she made the decision to get her eggs frozen while still living in the Playboy Mansion with her then-lover Hugh Hefner.

"Holly [Madison] and Hef were obviously the main relationship. We weren't allowed to date or anything like that," she explained. "I wanted to have a little bit of insurance policy and a little extra time."

Marquardt, who's been dating director Nicholas Carpenter since 2008, says she has no regrets about the fertility procedure.

"I think that it was 100% worth it," she told Us. "I don't feel that clock ticking. I'm not really worried about it. At the same time I would like to have kids someday, but I'm not one of those people who's dying to have kids. If it doesn't happen or if I decide to adopt later, that's fine, too."
