Demi Lovato: "I've gained weight, get over it"

Demi Lovato has blasted people who criticise her body.

The 19-year-old former Disney star, who entered a rehab centre last year to receive treatment for an eating disorder, said that people should not make cruel comments about her weight gain because she is now "happy and healthy".

Following her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, Lovato defended herself on Twitter, writing: "I've gained weight. Get over it. That's what happens when you get out of treatment for AN EATING DISORDER."

She later deleted the comment and replaced it with: "Guess what, I'm healthy and happy, and if you're hating on my weight you obviously aren't."

Lovato recently revealed that her recovery from an eating disorder is "still a daily battle", saying: "I surround myself with people that are beneficial in my recovery... I definitely hang out with people that support me in making the right decisions. I'm a happier and healthier person today because of the choices I've made.

"[Fans have] supported me through all this and it means a lot to me because they've been there for me when I was in treatment and when I got out."(Digital Spy)

Demi Lovato Shines in Silver on VMAs Red Carpet

The 19-year-old singer-actress looked beautiful beyond her years in a stunning – and a bit, uh, revealing – silver dress by Mandalay that bounced effortlessly off her tan skin and flowing brown locks.

Demi also stopped by MTV’s VMA pre-show, where she caught up with friend and red carpet co-host Selena Gomez and plugged her new album, Unbroken, which hits shelves on Sept. 20.

Britney Spears Is 'Epitome Of Pop,' Says Demi Lovato

Britney Spears is set to get the tribute treatment this Sunday at the 2011 Video Music Awards. At 29, she may be younger than your typical awards show tribute subject, but looking back at Brit's catalog of great videos and memorable VMA moments, we think she deserves it.

As part of the new generation of pop stars following in Britney's footsteps, Demi Lovato is pretty excited to see how the icon will be honored on Sunday night.

"Who isn't a Britney Spears fan?" Lovato asked, just days before the show goes live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. "My favorite Britney Spears song is 'I Wanna Go,' 'cause it's the latest song that she has and I love it."

Since Spears first took the VMA stage back in 1999, alongside 'NSYNC, she's managed to rack up five performances and take home four Moonmen, the first of which was back in 2008, over 11 years after her first appearance on the show. At this year's show, she's up for two awards for her video for "Till The World Ends," Best Pop Video and Best Choreography.

Demi has a simpler reason for a Britney tribute: " 'Cause she's the ultimate pop star; nobody can touch her," Lovato said. "She's been around for such a long time now and she's the epitome of pop. So when I think of pop music, I think of her."

While Demi is gushing about Brit's long pop career, she's poised to launch the next phase of her own. She will drop her album Unbroken next month. Its lead single, "Skyscraper," rocketed to the top of the charts when it was released earlier this summer. Read more on MTV

Demi Lovato's Track Listing Reveals Missy Elliot, Jason Derulo Collaborations

“Unbroken” will hit stores on September 20.

Unbroken will feature collaborations with some big names, including Missy Elliot, Timbaland and Jason Derulo.

The lead single off her upcoming record, “Skyscraper,” shot to No. 1 on iTunes on the day it was released. She also performed the song at the Do Something Awards.

If the title of the album seems familiar, it was the same as former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee’s January 2010 LP. Read More At Hollywood Reporter

Demi Lovato Opens Up About Eating Disorder

http://www.disneydreaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/demi-lovato-new-house.jpgDemi Lovato is Seventeen’s newest contributing editor and for her first assignment, she’s hoping to help teens who might be in the same situation she was once in.

Here’s what the 18-year-old starlet had to share:

On her message to teenage girls: “If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends. Don’t put yourself in danger. It’s very crucial that you get your feelings out - but don’t ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred. I wish I could tell every young girl with an eating disorder, or who has harmed herself in any way, that she’s worthy of life and that her life has meaning. You can overcome and get through anything.”

On temptations to go back to her old habits: “Yes, there have been times when I definitely have been tempted to get rid of my dinner. But I will deal with it for the rest of my life because it’s a life-long disease. I don’t think there’s going to be a day when I don’t think about food or my body, but I’m living with it, and I wish I could tell young girls to find their safe place and stay with it.”

On how she keeps herself in a safe place: “I don’t let anyone’s insecurities, emotions, or opinions bother me. I know that if I am happy, that’s all that matters to me. And it’s okay to be selfish like that sometimes, when it comes to your well-being. Do what makes you happy, and don’t care what others think.”

On how she defines her personality after leaving treatment: “I don’t really define it by anything. I live my life every day, and if I feel like wearing combat boots one day and shoes the next, I will. I allow myself a lot of freedom and I’m very peaceful now. I have come to realize that just making yourself happy is most important. Never be ashamed of what you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion that you want, and to do what makes you happy. That’s my life motto.”

Still easing back into the public eye following her rehabilitation efforts, Demi Lovato was spotted arriving at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Friday (April 1).

The "Camp Rock" cutie got the assistance of a police escort as she passed by a pack of awaiting photographers upon touching down in Tinseltown.

Demi Lovato's Rehab Christmas With Her Family

http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Demi+Lovato+Launches+New+Disney+TV+Music+Season+5KxtnqdLTxRl.jpgAs Demi Lovato continues to receive profession treatment for "emotional and physical issues," the Disney star had just one Christmas wish this year: to ring in the holiday with her family outside of the center.

Lovato, 18, was allowed to leave the treatment facility for the day on Christmas, a source close to her family tells PEOPLE. She returned later in the evening after celebrating with her mom, step dad and two sisters.

"It is the most important holiday to her," the source says.

Lovato checked into the treatment center late October after a fight with a dancer, Alex Welch, on the Jonas Brothers World Tour. What was described as a "short, physical altercation" was settled in time for Christmas, and Welch told PEOPLE she is "ready to move on."

Although there is no date set for the completion of her treatment, a source close to the family told PEOPLE in November that "Demi knows she needs the help and knows that she is where she needs to be right now."
