Let's do some more sElf. Lately, I've been listening to ALL the sElf albums from front to back on the way to school. I want to share this one with you. I remember the night I downloaded it for the first time. I hope you remember hearing it for the first time, right here on OMFG. This song is called Resurrect and it was on the Japanese release of Gizmodgery. I love this song. Stream and Download Here:http://self-centered.org/media/audio/various/Resurrect.mp3 ~Mark~
Time for more sElf tracks. These are both off of Porno, Mint and Grime. Both are killer love songs. Hit play, sit back, and think about how you relate, 'cause we all do. Keepaway

For this installment of Self Music, I'm going to be hooking you up with a rare E.P. that came out back in 1998. Yeah, lets go old school with this one! It's a collection of songs that did not make it onto the Breakfast With Girls album and was to serve as a teaser due to a delay of its release. These are really strong tracks. Some consider this E.P. to be a great little collection of songs. Especially Flip Top Box. I hope you like it as much as I do!
Merry Christmas Eve! Here are some more sElf tunes for ya!
This first one is called "Brooklyn", and is an online B-Side, it has some great swelling harmonies, awesome lyrics and a sweet guitar solo in the middle. Download and rock, then contemplate when you are gonna change your name to M.C. Somethin'.
"I'm taking a train to Brooklyn, I'm gonna learn how to rhyme."
Next up, we got "Grow Up" off of Ornament and Crime. "Grow Up" has some great vocal stylings reminiscent of the Beach Boys and some killer drum patterns.
"Is your ordinary life turning out like it should?"
Hey Everyone! This post is going to be the start of a new column that I (Mark) am going to do about sElf. I had originally planned to go through and do an album by album timeline, but now I have decided that I am just going to hand pick some songs each week and share them with you!
So, lets kick things off a song called Busy Sending Me. This song had been around for a little while until it was officially released on an album called Porno, Mint and Grime. This album was a B-Side album released for Ornament and Crime. Busy Sending Me
(wow, just had a full blown rock sesh right then) The next song is called Waiting. It was released off of Selfafornia back in 2000. I still remember sitting alone in front of my computer back then and realizing that this could be one of the best songs I will ever hear. EVER. Waiting Well, there we go. Till Next Time! ~MarK~
This is Mark here and I'm so happy with the way the blog has been going! I figured now would be a good starting point for some Matt Mahaffey posts!
Who is Matt Mahaffey?!
Matt Mahaffey is the leading force in the group sElf. I've been a sElf fan for a long time now and would like to share it with you. Lets start from the beginning!
I remember I was in like 7th grade or something. Jeez, yeah, I'm old. Music was electric back then, it was elusive and alive. My friend had this strange cd by this "group" called sElf. In the sleeve of the record it reads "Please tell your friends about this wonderful sElf product" or something like that. We were sitting in the back of my dads car, and he turns to me and says "well, it says for me to tell you about this album, so i am, here ya go." He put on the cd in my dads car, and I was amazed to say the least. "This was great! Who was this?" I thought to myself. "What are all those sounds? This is different! FINALLY!" I was in love from the beginning. Little did I know that I would still be expressing my love 15 years later.
The album was Subliminal Plastic Motives.
The songs on that album were amazing, Hell, they still are amazing. A fusion of hip-hop, jazz, rock, techno, alternative, and everything else that has yet to be done by anyone else. Believe me when I say that I've listened to this song more times than I'd like to openly admit.
