Aaliyah Remembered In Music Indistry

We love you, we miss you," wrote Busta Rhymes on the 10th anniversary of the singer’s death.


Ten years after Aaliyah’s untimely death, the singer’s influence on the music community still remains strong. Musicians took to Twitter to express their love and admiration for the singer.

BET will air a special -- Aaliyah: One In A Million-- on Thursday, with behind the scenes footage with the singer and interviews with friends and family.

Aaliyah and eight others died when their plane crashed en route to Florida from the Bahamas, where she had been taping the music video to "Rock the Boat" off her third album.

The admiration poured out over Twitter from some of music’s most successful artists:

Missy Elliott, who will also appear in the BET special and sang with Aaliyah wrote, “Aaliyah til this very day u r still in Your own Lane! Ure music is Timeless! We miss u!”

Hip-hop artist Drake wrote, “RIP Baby Girl...in my ear at every show letting me know the next move I should make. Love you.”

Busta Rhymes wrote, “God bless u Aaliyah. We love u, we miss u. God knows u r still very much needed here, but i guess u were even more needed with god. Rip baby.”

Solange Knowles wrote, “Iv'e grown up to you, idolized you, watched others try to capture what you had to no avail. You are the one & only Aaliyah! Never forgotten.”

Ciara tweeted, “AALIYAH...A PRECIOUS SPIRIT...ONE OF A KIND...CAN NEVER BE REPLACED.”

La La wrote, “She was so far ahead of her time...ur music & ur spirit still lives on..may u continue to rest in peace..we LOVE u..we CELEBRATE u.”

Mary J. Blige wrote, “Good morning twitter fam. Let's all take a moment to remember our sister Aaliyah!!!

Glee’s Kevin McHale wrote, “Remembering the extremely talented, graceful, and beautiful Aaliyah today.”

Diddy sent out a simple message, “RIP Aaliyah.”
