Govt wants to limit PAC role, says Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan accused the government on Friday of planning to limit the role of the Public Accounts Committee in order to hide its corruption.

Talking to reporters, he said the government had appointed an auditor general of its choice and ridiculed directives of the PAC indicating that it wanted to avoid accountability.

He said audit reports relating to the PPP government’s performance in the past two years were about to come before the PAC which contained irregularities. He said the prime minister was wrongly claiming credit for the recovery of Rs115 billion by the PAC as the government had played no role in it.

He said Mr Gilani should talk about the performance of his government, instead of PAC.

He said most of the decisions taken by the prime minister were controversial.
