Political parties urged to file statement of accounts by Monday

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the political parties to file duly audited consolidated statements of their accounts for the year 2010-11 by Monday. “This is with accordance to Article 13 of the Political Parties Order 2002, which states that every political party has to submit a statement of accounts to ECP within 60 days from the closure of each financial year,” said an ECP official while talking to APP.
The spokesman said that the statement of accounts should be accompanied by a certificate signed by the party leader stating that no funds from any source prohibited under the Political Parties Order were received by the party and the statement contains an accurate financial position of the party.
According to the election laws, every parliamentarian has to submit a statement of assets and liabilities of his own, his spouse and dependents annually to the ECP in September every year.
